Silver Fox

The Silver Fox is considered to be one of the rarest breeds of rabbits - in fact, it is critically in danger of extinction. It would be extremely unlikely to find one in a pet shop or rescue situation. They are listed by the American Livestock Conservancy as "Threatened". According to the Rabbitgeek.com list, based on ARBA registrations, they are no. 15 on the rarest breeds list.

Adult Silver Foxes weight 9-12 pounds, with medium-long fur (1-1.5") which stands upright as the fur is stroked "backward" (tail to head). Their fur is black with "silvering" - silver-white hair tips and longer hairs scattered throughout the fur. Silver Fox rabbits are born dark-colored, and the silvering develops as the rabbit matures.

Silver (also rare) - smaller (4-7 pounds), has short fur and a unique "old fashioned" body shape.
Silver Marten - white belly, chest, underside of tail, insides of legs, feet, chin, nostrils, eye circles, inside of ears, and a silver triangle at the nape of the neck, the rest of the body is a solid color with some silver hairs around the white areas.
