Upright Ears / Angora Fur

Your bunny has upright ears and long, wooly fur. There are four breeds of Angora rabbits to check out, as well as the Jersey Wooly - click on the names for details.

English Angora

  •  Long fur all over, including face and ears

  • Smaller than the Giant Angora - adult weight of 5-7 pounds

French Angora

  • Long wooly fur on their bodies

  • Fur on on their faces and ears is short (although the ears may have tufts on the ends)

  • The ideal adult weight is 7.5-10.5 pounds.

Satin Angora

  • Soft and shiny wool, finer than the French Angora

  • Adult weight for a Satin Angora is 6.5-9.5 pounds.

Giant Angora

  • Much larger than other Angoras, at least 9.5 pounds ideal adult weight. 

  • Very long wooly fur all over its body

  • Shorter hare on the face

  • Long hair, fringe and tufts on its ears.

  • NOTE: There is also a German Angora, which is similar to the Giant Angora but with a different body shape. The German Angora is not an ARBA recognized breed. 

Jersey Wooly  

  • Relatively small - not over 3.5 pounds ideal adult weight

  • Very long fur ("wool") which is made up of long, thick guard hairs - 1.5 to 3 inches long - with a shorter coarser "underwool" underneath. 

  • Short ears and round heads, like Netherland Dwarfs.
